Carnal Creatures
Primitive peoples, as far as anthropology and artistic history can see, have long understood their connections to the animal kingdom. Spiritual worship and culture are profoundly influenced by the attributes of the non-human beast. It is a fact that man is animal and that we must acknowledge the tribulations that the kingdom of life has endured for the possibility of human existence on Earth. So, it is no wonder that the global consciousness of historical humanity has sought to understand and define its connection with the animal kindgom in many ways. And we must include in this, the primal common denominator of our sexuality.
Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Pagan, Oriental, Indian, Aboriginal, Native American, Polynesian, Aztec...hell, nearly all cultures have mythologies full of beast creatures with and without partial human attributes. Many of these characters are specifically representative of and influential in sexual activity. Their animalistic features can not help but tease the beasty fantasy.
Certain animals seem to portray an essence of symbolic virility, fertility and masculine sexual conquest. Hair, musk, musculature, prowess, power and a need for sexual release, at all costs, are core elements to masculine energy. The male nature to dominate and mate with a certain intensity is repeatedly seen in the animal kingdom where we find ourselves immersed and intimately exposed.
Yet, other animals are symbolic icons for the feminine essence of sexuality. A gentle romantic grace and submissiveness that attracts a desire to get closer and connect. The receiver of sexual request --she is usually the one who chooses.
Mythology has combined these essential animalistic attributes with the intelligence and consciousness of the human mind. In myth, there is a blending of conscious and instinctual natures that provide an untouchable fantasy. A fantasy world where sexual passions are allowed to blend with primal animal nature on the most intimate of levels--a more conscious intention between the participators. Human sex with a mermaid or satyr would know a mind connection as well as the inter-animal exchange. This purposeful sexual combination and execution makes possible the imaginal knowing of mutual human/animal exchanges in emotion and passion.
The modern world has lost touch with the nature that supports it. And perhaps, the lover of animals seeks to know an intimacy that requires a certain challenge of bonding and permission. This kind of fetishist must find the attribute of animal energy fiercely powerful to a sexual fantasy.
It is not uncommon for me, in my sexual role play, to assume the symbolic nature of a particular animal. A certain instinctual and savage climate arises and an electricity of unusual stimulations thru sniffing, biting and animalistic posture ensue. Being taken from behind, immediately arouses a purr and howl, I believe, my animal cousins must understand. Watch a wolf or lion after mating and tell me that they are not blissful!
Our animal kingdom has a great deal to teach about foreplay and courting; about seduction and conquest; and about beauty and surrendering to instinctual yearnings for sexual completion. The innocence of such response and the innate need to fulfill an act of creation is displayed by a full spectrum of animal experience. For some, the sexual experience is truly a life and death matter. For others, the need to reproduce is merely a momentary duty, and others, devise complex mating rituals and social structures around the right to mate. And yet, there are still those whose bonding and society are clearly driven by a sexual foundation.
The sexual desire for beasts is still one of those forbidden lusts--one of those perversions general society is frightened of allowing into the world of fantasy. It still invites a censorship from those who assume a mature adult is incapable of separating reality from make-believe. Pornotopia.com is devoted to challenging this assumption. But, even today, because we want the right to sell our wares thru VISA billing...we are censored from using the proper labels this topic addresses.
